Marcos, Escudero share top spot in vice presidential race —Pulse Asia
Senators Ferdinand R. Marcos Jr. and Francis Escudero share the top spot in the latest pre-election survey conducted by pollster Pulse Asia for the vice presidential race .
The results released on Friday showed Marcos and Escudero garnering 25 percent each to top the latest survey.
The Ruling Liberal Party bet, Maria Leonor "Leni" Robredo, was chosen by 21 percent of the sample.
Senator Alan Peter Cayetano of the Nacionalista Party occupied third place, with 14 percent.
Senator Gregorio Honasan was a far fourth at five percent, followed by Antonio Trillanes IV at four percent.
Almost two in 10 respondents did not have any favored alternative candidate for the second highest elective post.
Pulse Asia's pre-election survey was commissioned by ABS-CBN and was conducted from March 15 to 20, using face-to-face interviews with 4,000 voters – 18 years old and above – with registered biometrics.
The nationwide poll has a ± 1.5 percent error margin at the 95 percent confidence level.
In Pulse Asia's previous survey conducted on March 1 to 6, Escudero and Marcos were statistically tied for first place, with 25 and 22 percent respectively,
Despite the bigger number of respondents, the rest of the vice presidential ranking was also unchanged with Robredo getting 21 percent in the earlier poll; Cayetano, 14; Trillanes, six; and Honasan, five.
The earlier survey had 3,600 respondents.
Only 4 points short to top
LP's VP bet Leni Robredo, meanwhile, expressed satisfaction with the result of the Pulse Asia survey.
In a chance interview on the sidelines of her campaign trail in South Cotabato, Leni said, "Masayang-masaya ako dahil apat na puntos na lang iyong ihahabol ko sa kanila."
"Alam ninyo po, noong nagsimula ako noong October, one percent lang ako. Si Sen. Escudero noon ay 44 percent; 43 percent ang aming agwat. Kaya parang imposible na makalapit ako," she added.
