Davao City Mayor Rodrigo Duterte slammed his own son, Davao Vice Mayor Paolo Duterte for endorsing Senator Chiz Escudero for vice president in the May 2016 elections.
The younger Duterte said that he is not bound by his father's politics despite the fact that his father's running mate, Senator Alan Peter Cayetano, is said to be bankrolling the tandem's campaign.
Earlier, Mayor Duterte tried to downplay his son's actions by saying that he cannot control his son or dictate the latter's choices, as he is already 37 years old.
However, while campaigning in Bohol, Duterte told those in attendance not to listen to his son. "Ako ang pakinggan niyo...Sino ang susundin niyo, presidente o vice mayor lang?" he said.
